2022 Arkas Dünya Optimist Şampiyonası 62 ülkeden, 284 sporcunun katılımı ile Bodrum'da başladı.
Bodrum Belediyesi’nin destekleri, Bodrum Belediyesi Bodrumspor Yelken Kulübü ev sahipliğinde, IODA Uluslararası Optimist Sınıf Birliği ve Türkiye Yelken Federasyonu iş birliğiyle gerçekleşen 2022 Arkas Dünya Optimist Şampiyonası 62 ülkeden, 284 sporcunun katılımı ile Bodrum'da başladı.
27 Haziran- 7 Temmuz tarihleri arasında gerçekleşecek olan Optimist Dünya Şampiyonası Yelken Yarışları için kortej yürüyüşü gerçekleştirildi. 62 ülkeden 284 sporcunun katıldığı kortejde sporcuların ülke bayraklarıyla gerçekleştirdikleri yürüyüş renkli görüntülere sahne oldu.
Program, kortej yürüyüşü sonrasında Bodrum Kalesi Kuzey Hendeği’nde yapılan seremoni ile devam etti. Muğla Vali Yardımcısı Murat Kahraman, Bodrum Kaymakamı Bilgehan Bayar, Bodrum Belediye Başkanı Ahmet Aras, Türkiye Yelken Federasyonu Başkanı Özlem Akdurak, Bodrum Beleiye Başkan Yardımcısı İlknur Ülküm Seferoğlu, Bodrum Beleiye Başkan Yardımcısı İbrahim Akbaş, siyasi parti temsilcileri, İMEAK DTO Bodrum Şubesi Başkanı Orhan Dinç, Bodrumspor Kulüp Başkanı Rıza Karakaya ve yönetim kurulu üyeleri, ilçe protokolü, sporcular ile antrenörlerin katıldığı program açılış konuşmalarıyla sürdü.
Bodrum Kaymakamı Bilgehan Bayar, “Çok güzel bir atmosfer var. Rüzgârın serin serin estiği bir ortamda sizleri burada ağırlamanın Bodrum Kaymakamı olarak gurunu ve sevincini yaşıyorum. Ümit ediyorum güzel bir yarış olur.” diyerek sporculara ve ailelerine “Hoş geldiniz” dedi.
Bodrum Belediye Başkanı Ahmet Aras su sporlarının Bodrum'un tanıtımındaki önemine dikkat çekerek, "Bugün, yine o ebedi maviliklerin içerisinde sonsuzluğa yelken açan genç yelkencilerimiz için buradayız. Onları bir araya getiren dostluk, barış rüzgarları olsun. Burada bütün dünya çocukları birlikte olsun; tanışsın, dost olsun, kardeş olsun” dedi.
Türkiye Yelken Federasyonu Başkanı Özlem Akdurak ise, “Optimist sporu bütün dünyada yelken sporunun ilk adımı olarak bilinir. Çok sevilir ve önemsenir. Bugün burada rekor ülke katılımıyla 62 ülkeden toplamda 284 sporcumuzla birlikteyiz. Çam ormanlarının denizle buluştuğu tarih ve yelken cenneti Bodrum’da sizleri ağırlamanın heyecanını yaşıyoruz” dedi.
IODA Başkan Yardımcısı Carmen Casco da yaptığı konuşmada, "Bu deneyim sırasında hem yarışacak hem de bu süreçte dünyanın her yerinden bugün ve yarın birlikte olacağınız yeni arkadaşlar edineceksiniz. Türkiye Yelken Federasyonu’na, organizasyon komitesine ve sponsorumuz Arkas’a çok teşekkür ederim” dedi.
Konuşmaların ardından, katılım sağlayan ülkeler tek tek sahneye davet edildi. Bodrum Karya Çiçekleri’nin yöresel halk oyunları ile çeşitli dans gösterileri sergilendi.
İçmeler’deki Bodrum Belediyesi Bodrumspor Yelken Kulübü’nden ayrılan optimistçiler, Bodrum açıklarında hazırlanan parkurda yerlerini aldı. Türkiye Yelken Federasyonu (TYF) Başkanı Özlem Akdurak’ın verdiği start ile birlikte rüzgârın da sporculardan yana olduğu ilk gün yarışları başladı.
Yarışlar, 6 Temmuz’da Bodrum Kalesi’nde yapılacak kapanış seremonisi ve ödül töreni ile son bulacak.

World Optimist Championship in Bodrum
The 2022 Arkas World Optimist Championship started in Bodrum with the participation of 284 athletes from 62 countries.
The 2022 Arkas World Optimist Championship, hosted by Bodrum Municipality Bodrumspor Sailing Club, with the support of Bodrum Municipality, in cooperation with the IODA International Optimist Class Association and the Turkish Sailing Federation, started in Bodrum with the participation of 284 athletes from 62 countries.
A cortege march was held for the Optimist World Championship Sailing Races, which will take place between 27 June and 7 July. In the cortege attended by 284 athletes from 62 countries, the march of the athletes with the national flags was the scene of colorful images.
The program continued with the ceremony held in Bodrum Castle North Trench after the cortege march. Muğla Deputy Governor Murat Kahraman, Bodrum Governor Bilgehan Bayar, Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras, Turkish Sailing Federation President Özlem Akdurak, Vice Presidents İlknur Ülküm Seferoğlu, İbrahim Akbaş, political party representatives, İMEAK DTO Bodrum Branch President Orhan Dinç, Bodrumspor Club President Rıza Karakaya and the members of the board of directors, the district protocol, the athletes and the coaches attended the program and continued with the opening speeches.
Bodrum Governor Bilgehan Bayar said, “There is a very nice atmosphere. As the District Governor of Bodrum, I feel the pride and joy of hosting you here in an environment where the wind blows coolly. I hope it will be a good race." saying "Welcome" to the athletes and their families. said.
Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras drew attention to the importance of water sports in the promotion of Bodrum and said, "Today, we are here for our young sailors who sail to eternity in those eternal blues. Let the winds of friendship and peace bring them together. Here, let all the children of the world be together; get acquainted, be friends or brothers," he said.
Özlem Akdurak, President of the Turkish Sailing Federation, said, “Optimist sport is known as the first step of sailing sport all over the world. He is very loved and cared for. Today, we are here with a total of 284 athletes from 62 countries with record country participation. We are excited to host you in Bodrum, the historical and sailing paradise where pine forests meet the sea.
In her speech, IODA Vice President Carmen Casco said, "During this experience, you will both compete and meet new friends from all over the world, with whom you will be together today and tomorrow. I would like to thank the Turkish Sailing Federation, the organizing committee and our sponsor Arkas."
After the speeches, participating countries were invited to the stage one by one. Local folk dances of Bodrum Karya Flowers and various dance performances were exhibited.
The optimists, who left the Bodrum Municipality Bodrumspor Sailing Club in Icmeler, took their places on the track prepared in Bodrum's offshores. With the start given by Özlem Akdurak, President of the Turkish Sailing Federation (TYF), the races started on the first day where the wind was on the side of the athletes.
The races will end with the closing ceremony and award ceremony to be held at Bodrum Castle on July 6th.
