MBB Başkanı Ahmet Aras'ın CHP üyeliğinden istifa edip yoluna bağımsız devam edeceğini duyurmasının ardından bir kez daha, "parti mi değiştirecek" sorusu gündeme geldi. Kısa süre önce bir haber televizyon kanalında parti değiştireceği ve AK Parti'ye geçeceği iddiası dile getirilen Aras'a programın sunucusu Gürkan Hacır'ın mesaj programı üzerinden sorduğu soruya, "parti değiştirmeyi doğru bulmuyorum" yanıtını verdiği açıklanmıştı. Aras için YENİ Parti'ye geçeceği iddiaları da gündeme getirilmiş ancak Aras tüm bu parti değiştirme iddialarını kesin ve net bir dille yalanlamıştı.

Son olarak CHP üyeliğinden istifasını duyurduğu açıklamanın metninde, "istifa gerekçesini" de bu tartışamalara bağlayan Aras, "... bir süredir şahsım üzerinden yürütülen siyasi tartışmaların, kentimiz için yaptığımız çalışmaların önüne geçtiğini görüyorum. Bu tartışmaların Muğla’ya ve hemşehrilerimize bir katkı sağlamadığına inanıyorum" dedi. Ve nihai kararını şu şeklide noktaladı;

"Bugün itibarıyla Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi üyeliğimden ayrılarak Muğla Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanlığı görevimi bağımsız olarak sürdürme kararı aldım."

Muğla Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanı Ahmet Aras'ın Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi üyeliğinden istifa ettiği açıklaması aşağıda;

"Sevgili hemşehrilerim,

Muğla Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanlığı görevini Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi çatısı altında, sizlerin güveni ve desteğiyle üstlendim. Bu yolda benimle omuz omuza yürüyen, emek veren bütün yol arkadaşlarımın katkısını; birlikte verdiğimiz mücadelenin, kurduğumuz dostlukların ve ortak emeğimizin kıymetini her zaman saygıyla taşıyacağım.

Bugün Muğla’mızın gündeminde çözüm bekleyen önemli meseleler, hayata geçirilmeyi bekleyen hizmetler ve geleceğimize yön verecek büyük sorumluluklar bulunuyor. Buna karşın bir süredir şahsım üzerinden yürütülen siyasi tartışmaların, kentimiz için yaptığımız çalışmaların önüne geçtiğini görüyorum. Bu tartışmaların Muğla’ya ve hemşehrilerimize bir katkı sağlamadığına inanıyorum.

Bugün itibarıyla Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi üyeliğimden ayrılarak Muğla Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanlığı görevimi bağımsız olarak sürdürme kararı aldım.

Kararımın temelinde, Muğla’ya karşı taşıdığım sorumluluğu halkımızın iradesi ve kentimizin ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda sürdürme anlayışı bulunmaktadır.

Belediye başkanlığı, ayrım yapmadan herkesin belediye başkanı olmayı gerektirir. Bugüne kadar olduğu gibi bundan sonra da siyasi görüşü, yaşam biçimi veya yaşadığı yer ne olursa olsun her hemşehrimize aynı samimiyetle yaklaşmaya; Muğla’mızın bütün ilçelerine ve mahallelerine adaletle hizmet götürmeye devam edeceğim.

Hizmet anlayışımızın ölçüsü değişmeyecek: Güçlü bir altyapı, güvenli ulaşım, korunan doğa, desteklenen üretici, dayanışmayla güçlenen bir toplum ve çocuklarımıza bırakacağımız yaşanabilir bir Muğla için çalışacağız.

Merkezi yönetimle, kamu kurumlarıyla, siyasi partilerle, ilçe belediyelerimizle, meslek odalarıyla ve sivil toplum kuruluşlarıyla Muğla’nın yararına olan her konuda iş birliği içinde olacağız. Kentimizin menfaatine yönelik her samimi adıma açık olacak, çözüm üretmek isteyen herkesle ortak bir zeminde buluşacağız.

Bu karar, geçmişimizi yok saymak değildir. Birlikte verilen emeğe, kurulan dostluklara ve paylaşılan mücadeleye duyduğum saygı daima devam edecektir. Aynı zamanda bu karar, Muğla’nın bugünü ve geleceği için taşıdığım sorumluluğun bir gereğidir.

Bugün aldığım kararda olduğu gibi, yarın üstleneceğim sorumluluklarda da halkımızın güvenini ve rızasını esas alacağım. Muğlalı hemşehrilerimin takdiri ve kentimizin öncelikleri, yoluma yön verecektir.

Benim tarafım Muğla’dır. Önceliğim hemşehrilerimizin huzuru, refahı ve kentimizin geleceğidir.

Muğla için çalışmaya, halkımızla birlikte yürümeye aynı inanç ve kararlılıkla devam edeceğim.

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras Resigns from CHP

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras announced his resignation from the Republican People's Party (CHP). But why? Why did Aras make this decision? Read on...

Following Mayor Aras's announcement that he would resign from the CHP and continue as an independent, the question of whether he would change parties has once again come to the fore. Shortly before, it was claimed on a news television channel that Aras would change parties and join the AK Party. In response to a question from the program's host, Gürkan Hacır, via a messaging program, Aras reportedly said, "I don't think changing parties is right." Claims that he would join the NEW Party were also made, but Aras categorically denied all these claims.

Finally, in the text of the statement announcing his resignation from the CHP, Aras, who also linked the "reason for resignation" to these controversies, said, "...I see that the political discussions that have been conducted through me for some time are overshadowing the work we are doing for our city. I believe that these discussions do not contribute anything to Muğla and our fellow citizens." And he concluded his final decision as follows;

"As of today, I have decided to resign from my membership in the Republican People's Party and continue my duties as the Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality as an independent."

Full text of Ahmet Aras's resignation statement from the CHP

The statement by Ahmet Aras, Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, announcing his resignation from the Republican People's Party is below;

"My dear fellow citizens,

I assumed the position of Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality under the umbrella of the Republican People's Party, with your trust and support. I will always respectfully cherish the contributions of all my colleagues who walked shoulder to shoulder with me on this path; the value of our shared struggle, the friendships we forged, and our joint efforts.

Today, Muğla faces important issues awaiting solutions, services waiting to be implemented, and great responsibilities that will shape our future. However, I see that the political debates surrounding me have been overshadowing the work we are doing for our city. I believe these debates do not contribute anything to Muğla or our fellow citizens.

As of today, I have decided to resign from my membership in the Republican People's Party and continue my duties as Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality as an independent.

My decision is based on the understanding that I will fulfill my responsibility to Muğla in accordance with the will of our people and the needs of our city.

The position of mayor requires being the mayor for everyone, without discrimination. As it has been until now, and as it will be in the future, I will treat everyone equally, regardless of their political views, lifestyle, or place of residence." I will continue to approach our fellow citizens with the same sincerity; to provide fair service to all districts and neighborhoods of Muğla.

The standard of our service philosophy will remain unchanged: We will work for a strong infrastructure, safe transportation, protected nature, supported producers, a society strengthened by solidarity, and a livable Muğla that we will leave to our children.

We will cooperate with the central government, public institutions, political parties, our district municipalities, professional chambers, and civil society organizations on every issue that benefits Muğla. We will be open to every sincere step towards the benefit of our city and will find common ground with everyone who wants to produce solutions.

This decision is not about disregarding our past. My respect for the labor we have put in together, the friendships we have formed, and the struggles we have shared will always continue. At the same time, this decision is a requirement of the responsibility I bear for the present and future of Muğla.

As with the decision I have made today, I will base my responsibilities in the future on the trust and consent of our people. The appreciation of my fellow citizens of Muğla and the priorities of our city will guide my path. It will guide us.

My side is Muğla. My priority is the peace, prosperity of our fellow citizens and the future of our city.

I will continue to work for Muğla and walk alongside our people with the same faith and determination.
